Frequently asked questions
Is this online meditation timer free?
Yes, completely free with no signup, no account, and no ads. Everything runs in your browser — set a duration, choose your bells and background sound, and meditate. For soundscapes, streaks, and offline sessions on the go, the MindTime mobile app extends the same timer-first experience.
Do the bells and background sounds need to download?
No. The bells and the white, brown, and pink noise are generated live in your browser using the Web Audio API, so there are no audio files to download and the timer works even offline. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere — your session stays entirely on your device.
What are interval bells for?
Interval bells sound a gentle chime at regular points during your session — for example every 5 minutes — so you can check in, transition between phases like breath awareness and a body scan, or simply be reminded to return to the present without opening your eyes or checking the screen.
Will the timer keep my screen from locking?
On supported browsers, the timer requests a screen wake lock while it runs, so your device won't dim or lock mid-session. You can turn this off in the options. If your browser doesn't support it, keep the tab active or adjust your device's auto-lock settings.
